"Quiapo, ginawang public swimming pool! Baha pa rin ayon kay Mike Enriquez ng 24 Oras. MMDA, naghanda ng dewatering pump para mawala na ang baha. Aabutin ng 5 araw bago matanggal ang baha kapag dipa rin tumigil ang ulan. Ilang mga truck, ipinadala para matulungan alisin ang tubig sa Quiapo. Hihingi rin daw ang MMDA ng tulong sa Fire Brigade upang mapabilis ang operasyon."

Heavy to Intense rainfall (18.0-21.0 mm/hr) over Manila & Marikina, Moderate to Heavy rainfall (2.5-7.5 mm/hr) was recorded over QC while Light to Moderate rainfall (1.0-7.0 mm/hr) over the rest of Metro Manila.
Due to the effect of the series of thunderstorms embedded in the Southwest Monsoon, expect Moderate to Heavy (5.0-10.0mm/hr) rains with occasional Heavy to Intense (15.0-30.0mm/hr) rains over QC, Manila, Pasig, CAMANAVA, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Marikina and nearby areas within 2hrs.

Residents in flood/landslides risk areas are advised to take precautionary measures and WATCH OUT for the next warning.

Philippines is now facing a big challenge, a phenomenon called siyam-siyam. This is a very rare phenomenon wherein there is a total of 9 nights of prolonged rains. That is why Metro Manila and other provinces in the Philippines are now experiencing flash flood.

It's very intriguing. PAGASA said that there was no cyclones at all. The flash floods, the landslides, the thunderstorms, these are all because of the southwest monsoon. Surprisingly, this siyam-siyam phenomenon has not happened for several years already. The flooding in Metro Manila and other provinces was unexpected as there was no cyclones in the Philippine area of responsibility.

Mario Palafox, a weather forecaster in PAGASA said that in his 17 years of weather forecasting, this is his first time to witness this phenomenon. According to a scientist, Dr. Kevin Rodolfo, siyam-siyam had occurred in 1990's wherein Pinatubo lahar has flowed. [1]

Non stop rains had cause flash flood to Metro Manila and other provinces.

"Cruz said that based on data from PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration), the southwest monsoon has already poured 323.4 millimeters of rain during the past 24 hours — more than half the average rainfall of 504 millimeters for the entire month of August." PAGASA said heavy rains experienced over much of Luzon, including Metro Manila, were caused by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm Haikui located 300 kilometers northeast of Taiwan.
